Our oldest had tubes (at about 13-14 months old), and they are thinking that our youngest will need them too. With our oldest, they really did solve the problem. Unfortuntately, his tubes fell out after 4-ish months and then he had a couple more ear infections before he just finally outgrew them. For awhile there, I was thinking we might have to get him a second set of tubes. With the baby, I just hate to do it at such a young age (he's only 8 months) because, invariably, they will fall out in a couple of months as he grows and then we will be faced with the "do we re-tube?" decision again (plus, I just get super nervous about the anesthesia at such a young age). But we will see. The baby ended up needing the round of shots last week (the oral antibiotic didn't work). Then, he saw the ENT earlier this week, and he recommended tubes. The good news is that the shots appear to have cleared up the ear infection for now, so we are going to see how long that lasts (we are coming to the end of flu/cold season and allergy season in the South, so here's to hoping!). We are probably headed for tubes if he gets another ear infection though. We had 4 out of 5 of our kids that would keep getting ear infections, and they all ended up with ear tubes, which ended up being lifesavers. no more antibiotics and no more ear infections. Maybe your baby can get them? I highly recommend them :)Colleenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11451797365712728579noreply@blogger.com
